Technical training at Syiah Kuala University in Banda Aceh was kicked off with a meeting with the university's Rector on 28th of July 2022. The event was attended by all nine partner universities of the project and started with an introduction of the project given by Dr. Nizamudin from Syiah Kuala University.
This was followed by a short speech from Professor Marwan, Rector of Syiah Kuala University. In his speech, the professor highlighted the importance of the project and its importance to the participating nations. He welcomed the contribution from Erasmus project in disaster risk reduction and hoped to continue the partnership to address disaster risks in the region.
This was followed by an address from the project coordinator Professor Jonathan Chan. He thanked the host for the warm welcome and contributed to add to the introduction of the UN4DRR project. Professor acknowledged the importance of disaster risk management in the global agenda.
The event was concluded with a group photo session of the participants.
